The Antbase.net Team has been to the British Natural History Museum in London!
We were one of the teams of lucky researchers that had been granted access to the collections at the Natural History Museum in London through the SYNTHESYS Project. So we spent 5 days of hard work at the Museum and we managed to get pictures of 66 specimens from 65 species. Obviously we tried to get some really exciting species from some rare genera out of "Barry Bolton´s collection". In order to keep a steady flow of output we will present several subsets of this work, so be prepared to see pictures of some most interesting species over the next few weeks. Link
Of course we are happy being able to present the following statement as well:
"This research received support from the SYNTHESYS Project http://www.synthesys.info/ which is financed by European Community Research Infrastructure Action under the FP7 Integrating Activities Programme."

NEW in August 2004:

Relaunch of antbase.de
Gero Lueckemeyer of the Department of Informatics of the University of Koeln improved our website to the newest web standards. Since August 2004 antbase.de is written in CSS and XHTML 1.0, allowing a free access for most web users, including disabled people that have to use features like reading devices and those that use handhelds, mobiles and other non standard equipment.

A German version of antbase.de
During the relaunch of antbase.de we decided to edit a German version of our pages, as most hits in our webstatistics still come from Germany. We hope that this will enlarge the number of ant enthusiasts and will be a help for those who are interested in the high ant diversity of the Malaysian rainforests. For the next future we are planning a Malaysian version of antbase.de.
